Mindfulness with Class - a 12-week program preparing for integrating mindfulness elements into working with children, 2023 edition.

We believe that in today's world, where children are experiencing more stress and competition than ever before, kindness is the most effective response. Based on the principles of respect, we develop skills of observing what is happening, relaxing, taking occasional breaks, and gaining perspective. We learn this slowly, step by step, sometimes resembling the movement of baby steps. There is no need to introduce a separate lesson or a complete program of meetings in school right away.

"Short but frequent" is the approach to reclaim even just 1 percent of the 47 percent of the time when our minds wander, as revealed by Harvard research. Mindfulness is not something complicated, but it requires remembering to practice it. These principles work well in cultivating mindfulness, which means involving both teachers and students in exploring themselves: their bodies, nervous systems, senses, the phenomenon of attention, and ultimately the art of releasing tension and relaxation.

A necessary condition is to first experience the nourishing power of mindfulness ourselves. Therefore, a mindful teacher serves as the starting point.
